Rotating tires doesn’t mean spinning them in place. Keegan Auto is here to clarify the purpose of rotating your tires. We want you to have the best possible experience with your vehicle and routine maintenance like tire rotations are the way to go. We are located in North Hampton, New Hampshire though you’ll frequently see customers from Portsmouth, New Hampshire driving their newly tuned vehicles away.

Why a Tire Rotation?

Tire rotations are basic routine maintenance you can have done easily at Keegan Auto. “Rotating” tires doesn’t involve spinning them in place. Tire rotations are literally often moving the tires on your rear axle for the tires on your front axle, or whichever way provides the most even tires on each side. Tire rotations promote even tire wear and awareness of how much tread is left, so they act as a tire inspection too.

Like oil changes that you can also have performed at Keegan Auto, tire rotations help prevent wear to other critical parts of your vehicle. Your tie rods and suspension system can wear out and throw off your alignment when your tires are consistently driving with uneven treads. You’ll feel this when driving, and might have to keep your steering wheel straight.

Safety

Having evenly worn tires is especially helpful driving in winter or wet conditions. You’ll need all your vehicle’s wheels to contact the road evenly to prevent slipping or sliding, so rotated tires are the safest option regardless of tread. We also offer tires so we can help you replace tires that are in poor condition and need replacement anyway.

Why shouldn’t I do this myself?

Yes, you could remove your tires and rotate them yourself. Unless you have lots of knowledge about alignments, you can readily make things worse by not fastening your tires tight enough or rotating uneven tires to the wrong spot. We also use stronger tools and air powered wrenches to get your tires tight, and know to tighten your lug nuts in a pattern. That’s why we suggest you bring your vehicle to us at Keegan Auto. We have ASE Certified Technicians who know how to do tire rotations for their best effect. They also enjoy communicating your vehicle’s needs to you.
